New approach pays off for Fairfield coach Sydney Johnson

Something had to change.
Fairfield had just finished a 7-24 season with a 63-33 loss to Saint Peter’s in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament and Sydney Johnson’s Stags were the laughingstock of the league, scoring
nine seven points in the first half of that debacle.
If Johnson was going to keep his job, the style had to change.
And change drastically.

Teddy Okereafor, Kahlil Thomas named 3rd Team All-MAAC

The Rider duo of Teddy Okereafor and Kahlil Thomas were both honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Monday, earning third team recognition.
Okereafor, a graduate student, leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per game. He also ranks fourth in the MAAC in minutes played and fifth in assists.
Thomas has had a breakout junior campaign, averaging 11.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The 6-7 forward led the league in field goal percentage (58.6 percent) and compiled 11 double-doubles in the final 20 games of the season.
