Rider visits Monmouth in MAAC opener

Rider will begin its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate Dec. 5 with a visit to in-state rival Monmouth.

The Hawks are making their league debut in that contest.

The Broncs’ second early-season conference game comes three days later when Quinnipiac, the other MAAC newcomer, visits Alumni Gymnasium.

Rider to hire Donyell Marshall as assistant coach

Rider coach Kevin Baggett is adding some NBA experience to his bench for the upcoming season.

The Broncs have hired former NBA veteran and Connecticut star Donyell Marshall as an assistant coach, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed Thursday.

The person spoke on a condition of anonymity because the deal is yet to be finalized, but an announcement is expected soon.

Princeton women release schedule

The Princeton University women’s basketball team which will go for a fifth consecutive Ivy League title this season announced its schedule Monday.

The Tigers open against in-state rival Rutgers — they crushed the Scarlet Knights 71-55 at Jadwin Gym last year — on Nov. 10 with the home opener coming a week later against eight-year running Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champ Marist.

The Red Foxes are one of four opponents that reached the NCAA tournament. The others are St. Joe’s (Nov. 26), at Navy (Dec. 6) and Delaware (Dec. 15).
