Rider 88, Manhattan 59

NEW YORK -- Whether it was a 3 from the wing or an emphatic dunk to finish an alley-oop, Brandon Penn found ways to score Thursday night against Manhattan.

And in a conference game Rider badly needed to win, Penn had plenty of help.

In Rider's 88-59 rout of Manhattan, Penn scored a career-high 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting. He passed his carer high of 14 in the first half, then kept the baskets coming -- from inside and out -- after that.

"He can be an explosive scorer at times," coach Tommy Dempsey said. "If he can defend and rebound and become a complete player he can be really good. ... He was good in our press, he rebounded the ball well and the shots fell."
