Rider to open MAAC slate against Siena at Alumni Gym

Rider begins its 2014-15 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule on Sunday, Dec. 7 at home against Siena.

The MAAC revealed the league scheduled on Wednesday.

The MAAC traditionally plays two games is December in the midst of non-conference play. The Broncs travel to Iona on Dec. 10.

Once again, each school will play home and away against the other 10, making a 20-game conference schedule.

Rider adds Kevin Noon to staff as DOB


Kevin Noon is coming home.

Rider head coach Kevin Baggett announced Thursday that the former manager-turned walk-on has been hired as the new director of basketball operations.

Noon, a Cherry Hill native, graduated from Rider in 2012, suiting up as a senior after spending the previous two years as a student manager.

"When I got the call from coach Baggett asking me if I was interested in the job here at Rider, it was a little bit of a surreal feeling," Noon said. "There's a little more passion for the place you can call home. Rider helped build me and help make me the coach I am right now and (will) continue to help me along that path."

Rider to face Michigan State in Orlando Classic

Jimmie Taylor is Rider's top returning scorer. The Broncs face Kansas and Michigan State in the same week.

The draw for the 2014 Orlando Classic made sure that Rider will have quite the Thanksgiving week.

The Broncs were placed in a quarterfinal game against Michigan State on Thanksgiving night with tip scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The glamor game against the Spartans comes three days after Rider travels to Phog Allen Fieldhouse for an out-bracket Orlando Classic game against Kansas.

The rest of the quarterfinal matchups in Florida are as follows: Santa Clara/Tennessee; Kansas/Rhode Island and Marquette/Georgia Tech. Games are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

The Michigan State/Rider winner will play the Marquette/Georgia Tech survivor in one semifinal. The possibility of a Michigan State/Kansas final is in play.
