MyNeshia McKenzie finished the 2012-13 season as a finalist for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and will start the upcoming season as a First Team All-Conference selection.

McKenzie was one of five players picked by the league's 11 coaches.

The other members of the team are: Katie Cizynski (Fairfield), Joy Adams (Iona), Damika Martinez (Iona) and Casey Dulin (Marist).

Martinez is the reigning Player of the Year, after compiling 18.1 points per game last season.

McKenzie averaged 14.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game a year ago. She becomes just the second Rider player to earn Preseason First Team honors in the school's 17 seasons in the MAAC. Tammy Myers did it prior to the 2008-09 season.

"The recognition means a lot to me," McKenzie told the school's athletic website. "But in reality, my teammates and my coaches have put me in position to help turn the program around. I'm surrounded by great players and that's what is bringing the team together and making us successful."

The Broncs are coming off a 15-win season, the fifth most in the 74-year history of the program.

The season opens at Lafayette on Nov. 8 with the home opener scheduled for Nov. 14 against LIU-Brooklyn.
