Welcome back to the Trentonian's Full-Court Press blog. Yes, we're still alive, and with the 2015-16 season rapidly approaching, it's time to fire up the old blog for another season. Check back here throughout the year for updates on all things Rider and Princeton, including coverage of both the MAAC and Ivy League. Rider Gameday: at Saint Peter's

Who: Rider (7-13, 3-6) at Saint Peter’s (8-9, 6-2)

When: Thursday, 8 p.m., Yanitelli Center, Jersey City

TV/Radio: ESPN3/ 107.7 FM The Bronc

Last Time Out: Rider def. Quinnipiac, 75-52; Saint Peter’s lost to Iona, 64-58.

Series History: Rider is 32-17 all-time against its in-state rival, although SPU won the first meeting this season, 71-63, at Alumni Gym. The Broncs have still come out on top in eight of the last 11 meetings.

Scouting SPU: John Dunne’s Peacocks are just a 1/2 game off the pace set by MAAC leaders Monmouth. They had won six of their first seven league contests before dropping a six-point decision at Iona last Friday. If SPU can complete the season sweep of the Broncs, it will have a chance to challenge for the regular-season title with the next two contests at Monmouth and home to Iona. Antwon Portley is the conversation for MAAC Rookie of the Year, averaging a team-high 15.1 points per game. He had 25 in the first meeting. This contest also features an excellent post match-up between the Peacocks’ Quadir Welton (10.8/7.8) and the Broncs’ Kahlil Thomas (9.9/7.7).

Scouting Rider: The Broncs have won three of their last four following a 0-5 start in league play. Thomas is a big reason for that. He’s collected seven double-doubles and has hauled down at least 10 rebounds in eight of the last 10 games. Rider, however, needs to put a winning streak together since it’s two games out of fifth place, the final spot for the all-important opening-night bye at the conference tournament. Depth could be an issue moving forward. The Broncs only have nine available players.
