Rider Gameday: at Maryland

Who: Rider (0-2) at No. 3 Maryland (2-0)

When: Friday, 7 p.m, Xfinity Center, College Park, Maryland.

TV/ Radio: Big Ten Network/ 107.7 FM The Bronc

Last Time Out: Rider lost to La Salle, 73-60; Maryland def. Georgetown, 75-71.

Series History: Maryland has won all three meetings between the schools with the most recent contest during the 1995-96 season. This game is part of the Cancun Challenge. The Broncs will play a pair of games at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya over the Thanksgiving break.

Scouting Maryland: Could Rider catch the Terrapins looking ahead after an emotional victory over neighboring Georgetown on Tuesday? Unlikely. This Maryland team is far too talented and should overpower the Broncs. The Terps are led by guards Melo Trimble (19 ppg) and Rasheed Sulaimon, a Duke transfer. Sulaimon hit a late 3-pointer against the Hoyas to break a tie game. Maryland also starts 6-11, 255-pound freshman center Diamond Stone, a player Rider can’t matchup with. The Terps are one of the favorites to win the Big Ten and many experts think they have a chance to reach the Final Four under the guidance of fifth-year boss Mark Turgeon.

Scouting Rider: The Broncs are off to a tough start against a brutal early schedule. They’ve got losses to Princeton and La Salle and head coach Kevin Baggett didn’t like the way his group competed against the Explorers. Rider trailed that game by double figure for the entire second half. Guard Teddy Okereafor is only averaging 4.5 points in through the first two games and was benched midway through the second half against La Salle. If you’re looking for a positive, it has to be the emergence of Xavier Lundy. The junior from Paulsboro put in a career-high 19 points last time out and has established himself as a threat when catching the ball at the high post.

On Deck: Rider vs. Cleveland State, Tuesday, 12:30 p.m., at Cancun, Mexico; Maryland vs. Illinois Sate, Tuesday, TBA, at Cancun, Mexico
