Rider accepts CBI bid, will play Loyola Chicago
The Broncs (21-11) have compiled 20 wins for the first time since the 2010-11 season and are making their second postseason appearance in the last three years.
The Ramblers (19-13) are in the postseason for the first time since 1985. They finished sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference, eventually losing to No. 11 Northern Iowa in the conference semifinals.
The two schools have met once before, a 69-61 Loyola win in 1989.
This is Rider's second trip to the CBI, having also made the inaugural 2008 field.
The winner plays either UC Santa Barbara or Oral Robers in the quarterfinals.
The CBI is a postseason tournament comprised of a 16-team field and hosted at on-campus arenas throughout the country. The CBI is a single-elimination tournament up until the Championship series, which is best of threee
The CBI will also use a 30-second shot clock to help the NCAA determine if that will improve the pace of play.
