Jimmie Taylor scored 15 points, Teddy Okereafor added 13 and Rider swept the Western New York trip for the third time in five seasons with a 69-60 victory over Niagara on Sunday afternoon at the ‘Taps’ Gallagher Center.

The Broncs (18-9, 12-4) have won four straight and are 16-4 in their last 20 games.

Taylor and Matt Lopez (11 points, five rebounds) sparked a 20-4 run by combing for 14 of those points after Rider allowed Niagara to score the first five of the second half.

Kahlil Thomas finished with eight points and five rebounds in 17 minutes in his second game back after missing 13 straight following a stress fracture suffered in his left foot on Dec. 18.

The Broncs finished 50 percent (25 of 50) from the floor, improving to 7-0 when they make at least half thier shots.

Emile Blackmon led the Purple Eagles (4-21, 3-13) with 13 points.

Because of the MAAC’s unbalanced schedule this was the first meeting between the two schools. They play twice in six days withe the return game set for Feb. 21 at Alumni Gymnaisum.

Rider beat Canisius, 60-59, on Friday in the first leg of the Western NY trip.
