RIDER GAMEDAY: Saint Peter's

Who: Rider (10-9, 6-4) at Saint Peter’s (7-12, 3-7)

When: Friday, 7 p.m., Yanitelli Center

TV: ESPN3

Radio: 107.7 FM The Bronc

Last Time Out: Rider def. Monmouth, 77-71 in OT; SPU lost to Iona, 71-63

Previous Meeting: SPU won, 77-69, on Jan. 16

Background: If the Broncs want to mount a charge up the conference standings this is the time to do it.

Beginning Friday at Saint Peter’s, Rider faces three of the bottom four teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with Fairfield and Marist on deck at Alumni Gymnasium.

As is life in the MAAC, nothing comes easy.

Although the Peacocks have lost three straight, their last victory was in Lawrenceville over the Broncs.

In that contest, SPU shot 31 of 35 from the free throw line and snapped a five-game skid against its in-state rival.

Rider did hang on for an overtime victory last time out against Monmouth despite coughing up an 18-point lead.

The Broncs have alternated wins and losses in their last five games and are looking to put together a string of victories that can push them up the conference standings.

Rider sits in the all-important fifth position — the top five finishers get an extra day off and only have to win three in three days at the league tourney — holding a one-game edge over Siena.

Canisius, Iona, Manhattan and Quinnipiac make up the top four.

The matchup to watch will be Rider’s forwards — Danny Stewart and Kahlil Thomas — against SPU’s Marvin Dominique.

Dominique, a junior forward who transferred from Fordham, averages 17.5 points per game.

He scored 16 — all in the second half — in the first meeting.

Stewart set a new career-high with 28 points in that loss.

Projected Starting Lineups: Rider: G-Jimmie Taylor (Fr., 10.7 ppg), G-Zedric Sadler (So., 10.3 ppg), G-Anthony Myles (Sr., 17.9 ppg), F-Danny Stewart (Sr., 15.8 ppg), F-Kahlil Thomas (Fr., 5.8 ppg).

Saint Peter’s: G-Trevis Wyche (Fr., 8.4 ppg), G-Desi Washington (Jr., 12.9 ppg), G-Chris Burke (Sr., 6.8 ppg), F-Marvin Dominique (Jr., 17.5 ppg), C-Quadir Welton (Fr., 5.3 ppg).
