Background: The Broncs try to make it six in a row over their in-state rival, although it won’t be easy against the Peacocks, who have won two straight.
SPU is coming off an impressive victory over Quinnipiac and have a dynamic scoring duo in juniors Desi Washington (13.1 ppg) and Marvin Dominique (18.1 ppg).
“I always expect it do be a dogfight with those guys,” said Rider coach Kevin Baggett, who matches up against his good friend John Dunne. “He’s got more talent than he’s had the last couple years. Those guys are coming in with some momentum. It’s always been a tough battle playing those guys.”
For the Broncs, expect freshman forward Kahlil Thomas to return to the starting lineup.
Thomas got the nod in the first four games, but has come off the bench since.
The Floridian has scored double figures in three of the last five games.
“I think it will take some pressure off of Junior (Fortunat) if he can watch the game for a few off the bench and then going in,” Baggett said. “I think Kahlil’s deserved it. His play has pretty much picked up since early on in the year so I’m hoping it will continue with him being in the lineup.”
Projected Starting Lineups: Rider: G-Jimmie Taylor (Fr., 11.7 ppg), G-Zedric Sadler (So., 11.4 ppg), G-Anthony Myles (Sr., 19.2 ppg), F-Danny Stewart (Sr., 14.5 ppg), F-Kahlil Thomas (Fr., 5.7 ppg).
