Welcome back to the Trentonian's Full-Court Press blog. Yes, we're still alive, and with the 2015-16 season rapidly approaching, it's time to fire up the old blog for another season. Check back here throughout the year for updates on all things Rider and Princeton, including coverage of both the MAAC and Ivy League. Iona-Rider

Jermel Jekins is one of many Iona 3-point threats.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's game at Alumni Gym. Coverage on the blog will start at 2:50 on CoveritLive, 10 minutes or so before tip time.

SCOUTING IONA: The Gaels, young but talented, have three MAAC loses but one statement win, having won at Niagara. They also won at Providence, took Florida State to overtime in the Old Spice Classic and lead the MAAC in 3-point shooting at 38.5 percent. ... Sophomore guard Scott Machado, last year’s MAAC Rookie of the Year, runs the show with poise and is the Gaels’ leading scorer at 11.8 per game. He’s also averaging a team-best 4.5 assists and shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range. ... Freshman guard Kyle Smith (9.7 points) is third in the MAAC in 3-point percantage (41.4) and eighth in 3-pointers made (24). ... Junior forward Alejo Rodriguez (8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds) scored 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting in the Gaels’ win at Niagara. ... Sophomore guard Jermel Jenkins (8 points) is yet another 3-point threat at 36.5 percent. ... Six-foot-10 senior Jonathan Huffman (7.1 points) is averaging only 3 rebounds but is second in the MAAC in 3-point shooting at 42.2 percent Freshman forward Mike McFadden (5.9 points) will play after missing the Gaels’ last game with the flu.

SCOUTING RIDER: Coach Tommy Dempsey says the Broncs have practiced well over the last two weeks. Has that translated to games? Not exactly, Rider having lost at Loyola last Saturday and escaped with a one-point win Monday at Manhattan. But Rider is back home after a six-game road trip, and beginning to regain confidence after a shaky start. .... Ryan Thompson, still yet to hit his stride, is averaging a team-best 14.4 points, along with 5.1 rebounds. He’s shooting 33.9 percent from 3 — a number the Broncs think will improve as the season goes on. ... Novar Gadson (12.4 points, 8.2 rebounds) posted his fourth double-double of the year at Manhattan with 12 points and 13 rebounds. ... Mike Ringgold (11.5, 7.3) has been a force of late. He scored 21 points at Loyola and scored the winning basket at Manhattan with 6.2 seconds left. ... Justin Robinson (13.1 points) leads the MAAC in 3-point shooting at 46.2 percent. His 3 off the glass at the half-time buzzer Monday proved pivotal. ... Brandon Penn (4.7 points) will start, with Jhamar Youngblood (7.3) coming off the bench. ... With Jermaine Jackson back from an ankle injury, Rider will dress all 12 players for the first time since November.

Doods,
I didn't see this in the "Scouting Iona" section but didn't they also beat Creighton? They have some pretty good wins

Bryan,

Yes, the Gaels beat the Blue Jays 63-55 at the Old Spice Classic in November.

Creighton has slipped back a bit this year and is 7-8 overall, 2-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference, but you're right, it's still a quality win for a team like Iona.

Yeah, beating Provy and Creighton are two pretty good wins for a middle of the pack MAAC school. Now don't blow it Rider!
