Game 3: Lehigh at Rider

Who: Lehigh (0-2) at Rider (1-1).

When: Friday, 7 p.m., Alumni Gymnasium.

TV/Radio: None/107.7 FM The Bronc.

Last Time Out: Rider def. Penn, 73-57; Lehigh lost to Canisius, 63-51.

Series History: Rider leads 31-21.

Last Meeting: Lehigh won, 92-78, on  Nov. 12, 2013.

Background: This is the home opener for the Broncs after a pair of road games against Ivy League opposition, which they split, falling to Princeton and beating Penn. These two met in the season opener last season and the Mountain Hawks won easily, shooting a sizzling 59 percent from the field, including 61 percent from beyond the arc.

Hello Old Friend: The best person to ask for a scouting report? Rider guard Anthony D’Orazio, who spent four years a Lehigh before transferring to Rider as a graduate student. D’Orazio missed all of last season with an injury. Prior to that, he was part of a pair of Mountain Hawk teams which won at least 20 games. In his sophomore season, they upset Duke in the NCAA Tournament.

What D’Orazio said: “The urgency and uniqueness of playing in the tournament brings to light how you should practice every single day. The consistency, the accountability ... the little things you see on a winning team that you have to replicate in order to do it all again. That year we went and played and beat Duke, we really hit a stride from February on. It’s just a matter of getting hot at the right time. I think if we can consistently improve during practices, we’ll put ourselves in a good position for the MAAC Tournament and after.”

Lehigh Player to Watch: Sophomore guard Austin Price is off to a strong start, averaging 13 points per game through the first two contests. He poured in 24 on 10 of 17 shooting against No. 12 Villanova in the Mountain Hawks’ opener.

Rider Player to Watch: After posting a career-high 23 points in the win over Penn, Zedric Sadler is back to full strength. The junior guard suffered through an injury-plagued sophomore year, but said he has the spring back in his step. Sadler added that being healthy allows him to be a better leader.

Projected Starting Lineups — Lehigh:  G-Kahron Ross (Fr., 5 ppg), G-Austin Price (So., 13 ppg), G-Corey Schaefer (Sr., 5 ppg), F-Jesse Chuku (Jr., 6.5 ppg), F-Tim Kempton (So., 17  ppg).
