RIDER GAMEDAY: Broncs challenge No. 8 Villanova

Who: Rider (5-4) at No. 8 Villanova (10-0)

When: Saturday, 4 p.m., The Pavilion

TV: Fox Sports 1

Radio: 107.7 FM The Bronc

Last Time Out: Rider def., Wagner, 79-58; Villanova def., La Salle, 73-52

Series History: Villanova leads 21-2

Background: The Broncs’ best chance may be if the Wildcats get caught looking ahead to Syracuse in a weeks time.

Under the radar to start the season, Villanova has ascended into the top-10 with victories over Kansas and Iowa.

The Wildcats just swept through a string of Big 5 games — beating Penn, St. Joe’s and La Salle — winning by an average of 24.6 points.

“They have a bunch of guys that can score and are pretty interchangeable,” Rider coach Kevin Baggett said. “Those guys are going to get after you defensively and take every opportunity to find the weak links on your defense and expose it. We have to be able to keep the ball in front of us, be able to block out .. We got our work cut out for us.”

The Broncs are 1-8 vs. ranked opponents since 1995 with the lone victory coming in 2009 over then-No. 18 Mississippi State.

Projected Starting Lineups: Rider: G-Zedric Sadler (So., 11 ppg), G-Jimmie Taylor (So., 12.7 ppg), G-Anthony Myles (Sr., 18.7 ppg), F-Danny Stewart (16.9 ppg), C-Junior Fortunat (5.4 ppg).

Villanova: G-Ryan Arcidiacono (9.2 ppg), G-Darrun Hilliard (14.5 ppg), G-James Bell (16.1 ppg), F-Daniel Ochefu (3.7 ppg), F-JayVaughn Pinkston (16.7 ppg).
