Morning Run — Game 6: Rider 86, Jacksonville 71

Anthony Myles scored a career-high 23 points, helping Rider snap a two-game losing skid and beat Jacksonville, 86-71, Friday afternoon in the Hoops for Hope Classic.

Myles, a junior from Dover, Del., broke his previous high mark of 21 points set last season in a loss to Iona.

“I’ve been challenging Anthony to drive it more, get to the basket, and he responded today,” coach Kevin Baggett said on the school’s athletic website. “It is one of the best games he’s played. He played a complete game.”

The lefty connected on 7 of 12 shots, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. The Broncs (3-3) shot 50 percent (9 of 18) on 3-pointers while holding the Dolphins (2-4) to 1 of 14.

“I felt good,” said Myles, whose parents made the trip to Mexico. “We were on a two-game losing streak and if we want to be a good team we can’t have losing streaks.”

Jon Thompson added a season-high 18 points and Nurideen Lindsey finished with 10.

Glenn Powell led Jacksonville with 22 points on 9 of 12 shooting while Keith McDougald finished with 20, despite missing all six of his 3-point attempts.

After conceding the first four points, Rider went ahead 7-6 on a 3 by Thompson and led the rest of the way.

Myles’ layup with 8:06 remaining gave the Broncs their biggest lead, 68-50.

Rider finishes the Hoops for Hope Classic Sunday against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
