Siena gets Ohio State

The NCAA tournament committee awarded Siena a No. 9 seed and matched the Saints against Big 10 tournament runner-up Ohio State in Dayton, Ohio. A win would give Siena a second-round game against top-seeded Louisville.

  1. That's the best non-LaSalle seed in the history of the MAAC by 3 spots, I believe. Well earned.

  3. All else aside a 9 seed for the MAAC is a huge accomplishment.

I think Siena can take out Ohio State, but the Ville is a whole different story.

  6. how is siena a 9 seed when they only beat one team in the ncaa tournament (if you count the Ivy as team). their best win is over the 3 seed in the NIT. good job by the selection committee

  7. Siena has an 18 RPI; 7 Top 100 wins; played the 3rd best schedule in the country and is 2-3 against NCAA Tournament teams. They also have history of performing at a high level in the NCAA Tournament - the committee will generally reward a back-to-back conference champion. That's how they have a 9 seed.

  8. I was definitely surprised by the 9 seed. Thought a 10 was more likely. What a huge accomplishment for the Saints and the MAAC. Now let's take care of business on FRI night. Go Saints!
